ParcelVision ("we," "our," or "us") explains here what the ParcelVision mobile app collects, where that information goes, and what stays on your phone. This policy covers both the iOS and Android versions of the app.

What the app collects, and where it goes

Everything the app sends off your device is listed here. Nothing else leaves your phone.

All of this travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection.

Location

ParcelVision uses your device's GPS for two things: to show you where you are on the map, and to place your property boundary correctly on the ground as you walk it.

Your location does leave your device. When you search a spot, tap a parcel, or use "search this spot," those coordinates — or the address you typed — are sent to Realie to look up the parcel there, and to Mapbox to draw map tiles and to turn what you type into a location. Without sending it, there is no way to tell you whose land you are standing on.

What we do not do is keep it. We operate no servers of our own that receive or store your location, and we do not build a location history, a track of where you have been, or a profile of you. Once a parcel comes back, the result is stored on your phone.

You can turn off location access at any time in your device settings. The map and search will still work if you enter an address by hand, but the on-the-ground boundary view needs GPS to function.

Property data

When a search succeeds, the parcel's boundary, acreage, parcel number and address are stored in a database on your phone. Any waypoints, tags or landmarks you add — a corner post, a stand, a well head — are stored there too and are never uploaded.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by the Apple App Store on iOS and Google Play Billing on Android. We use RevenueCat to keep track of what you have unlocked so your purchases can be restored. We never see or receive your card details.

RevenueCat identifies your installation by a random value the app generates itself (in the form pv-ios-… or pv-android-…). It is not your device's identifier, not an advertising ID, and it is not linked to your name or your Apple or Google account.

Usage analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to see which parts of the app are used and where people get stuck — for example, how often a search succeeds, or whether the boundary appeared on the ground.

These events carry only categories and ranges, never free text: things like which search method was used, or which bucket the number of boundary points fell into. Addresses, parcel numbers and property owner names are not included in analytics events.

Crash reports and diagnostics

We use Sentry to record crashes and errors so we can fix them. A report includes the error, the device model and OS version, and a short trail of what the app was doing beforehand.

A crash report can include a screenshot of the app at the moment it failed. Because of what this app does, that screenshot may show the live camera view of wherever you are standing, and it may show your property's boundary, address or parcel number. This is why the app declares access to photos and media in its store listing. Screenshots are used only to diagnose the failure.

Where our diagnostic logs would otherwise contain property owner names or owner mailing addresses returned by the parcel data provider, those fields are removed before the log is sent.

What we do not collect

• No account. There is no sign-up, no username and no password.
• No name, email address or phone number. We never ask for them.
• No advertising identifier. The app does not request or use one.
• No ads. There are no advertisements, ad networks or advertising SDKs in the app.
• No selling of data. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing.
• No contacts, no microphone recordings, no photo library access.

What stays on your device

Your purchased properties, their boundary data, and any waypoints or tags you create are stored in a database on your phone and encrypted at rest with AES-256. The encryption key is held in your device's secure storage. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

iOS only: your purchased properties are also copied to your own private iCloud storage, so they come back if you reinstall the app or move to another device signed in to the same Apple ID. That copy lives in your iCloud account, not on our servers, and we cannot read it. It is removed when you delete the app's iCloud data in your device settings.

You can also export any property as a .parcel file at any time from within the app.

Third-party services

Each handles the information it receives under its own privacy policy. Beyond these, we share information only with your explicit consent, when required by law or legal process, or to protect our rights or the safety of users.

Deleting your data

There is no account to close, because there is no account.

• Uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on your device — your properties, boundary data, waypoints and tags.
• We hold no server-side copy of your properties. There is nothing on our side to delete, because we never stored it.
• iOS iCloud backup: to remove the copy in your own iCloud storage, delete the app's data in your device's iCloud settings.
• Analytics and crash data: if you want the usage and crash records associated with your installation deleted, email [email protected]. Tell us the platform you used and roughly when, and we will have them removed.

You can also stop analytics and crash collection entirely at any time by uninstalling the app.

Your choices

• Location: turn off location access in your device settings at any time. The on-the-ground boundary view will stop working; the rest of the app will not.
• Camera: turn off camera access to disable the on-the-ground view. Searching and the overhead map are unaffected.
• Export: save any property as a .parcel file to keep or share it.
• Deletion: see Deleting your data above.

Children's privacy

ParcelVision is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.
